Another fantastic one day winter skills day on Helvellyn dispatched ❄️ 💪
Today I was joined by Kev, Bruce, Sandra, Chloe and Jen, who between them had an array of previous experience coming into the course.
We got ourselves up into Red Tarn Cove, chatting about various bits of winter knowledge as we went as well as learning to walk in crampons.
We managed to cover some ice axe arrest techniques, and then using all the skills learnt we ascended up to Swirral Edge, and then took the ridge to the Helvellyn summit plateau.
The group were so stoked to have made it there, not only to get the winter summit tick, but the fact they'd done it with their newfound / refreshed skills.
We descended Swirral Edge and then had a lovely social walk back out.
Thanks so much guys, you've been awesome. #LivefortheNow
P.s if you thought tracksuit and trainers was bad on Helvellyn, imagine seeing 4 guys bumslide down the Helvellyn headwall today.... yes, the steep back wall from the plateau. Common sense ain't so common, eh...
