Winter Skills Course - Day 1

Wow, what a day! Winter skills epicness with 11 awesome people. Finally winter comes good and Storm Jorge threatens, but with an early start, bucket loads of optimism and some out and out luck, we enjoyed a fantastic, at times sunny, wintry ascent of Helvellyn. The group did brilliantly today and got to grips with using Crampons and an Ice Axe extremely quickly. Swirral Edge was in good condition with some Neve right towards the top. We were surprised at the 'lack of Jorge' when we got to the summit of Helvellyn but as I type this the storm has definitely arrived! We descended Swirral Edge once more and then found a patch to cover Ice Axe arrest. Big thanks to everyone who attended, and of course to Gibson for co-guiding and Rosanna for your support too. #LivefortheNow
