Huge thanks to Emma, Emily, Greg, Claire, Jon and James who joined me for our One day Lake District Winter Skills course today. I only scheduled this course about 4 days ago, so it was great to give these guys the opportunity to taste some Lakes Winter whilst the conditions were good (there's a thaw inbound! 😭)
Our day wad much the same as our course yesterday, where the enthusiastic and fun bunch were introduced to walking in crampons, walking with an axe and ice axe arrest. They then got the chance to put all these skills to good use and ascend Helvellyn via Swirral Edge.
We also took in Catstycam today and took an absolute kicking by the wind 😳 This suffering was worth it as we then enjoyed a good hundred metres or so of 'Tabottoming' back to the path.
Well done all, what a day, what a group 👏
