It's been a super tricky few days of weather watching and cancelling work. Like with all these bookings we have been trying to marry up safe and enjoyable experiences with the weather, as well as managing expectations.
It was great to get out with a keen Emma and Gareth this morning. They're getting in to hillwalking and Striding Edge onto Helvellyn was on their hit list. We saw a small weather window this morning and so after a 7am meet in Glenridding we made a speedy ascent up to Striding Edge.
The pair scrambled well and the ridge was quite pleasant as we'd beaten the rising wind speeds. After reaching the top of Helvellyn we descended Swirral Edge and continued down into the much calmer valley.
A highlight of the day was seeing three casually dressed lads heading for Swirral Edge with nothing but a carton of Apple Juice 😅
