Now the summer season is coming to an end and the winter is starting to show, new adventures are on the horizon… During the different seasons when we go out to work and play, a big factor in success is comfort and warmth.
As a guide for Lakeland Mountain Guides, it’s important that our kit is comfortable because our clients are our priority. The last thing you want is clothing, boots or equipment letting you down! We are lucky to test out products for various companies and this summer we’ve been testing EDZ Layering’s merino base layers.

I have been totally impressed with both base layers. They have really stood up to the job this year! We’ve had a really hot summer and I have been guiding people on events such as the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, National 3 peaks and other various events- sometimes this has been in hot sticky 30 degrees heat! When guiding these events in the mountains I felt 100% cool and comfortable in the EDZ merino top. The superfine merino wool means, it is soft to the skin with no irritation and a joy to wear.
The EDZ leggings I’ve worn on the coldest weekend we’ve had so far this year, even wild camping where the temperature was well in the minus figures all weekend. The EDZ leggings are light and comfortable. This meant they were a pleasure to wear under my Paramo trousers, and in my sleeping bag as an extra layer. I’m looking forward to this winter where they will be getting lots of use.
I’m converted to the EDZ Merino range - I’ve worn top branded merino for many years and EDZ is top quality, light, breathable, great at wicking away sweat and its fast drying. It’s also almost half the price of some other brands so it offers fantastic value for money. I’ll be ordering some more for the new year……
