Scafell from Eskdale Guided Walk

Scafell or Scafell Pike? Which do you prefer? Did you know Scafell was once regarded as the tallest peak in England?

Not that it's good for us to have favourites, but I think it's not hard to not see where Scafell may gain a few more points over Scafell Pike even if it does fall shy of the tallest peak in England by 14 metres.

Today I had the pleasure of guiding Tim, Nikki and Will up Scafell via Eskdale, probably the valley where you can find the most seclusion, but that's a topic for another day. We bog hopped and scrambled onto the summit via Foxes Tarn which is a lovely and fairly easy adventure in itself - but still much more interesting than the motorway from Wasdale.

We descended via Slight Side and back into Eskdale in the fading light.

Get in touch if you want one of our guides to show you the delights of this epic mountain! #LivefortheNow
