Yet again today I was shown that age is merely a number. John, 75, got in touch and was keen to head out for an adventurous 5 hour hike to round off his trip to the Lake District. His hometown is New York but he'd fallen head over heels in love with the Lakes, and so it was only right to introduce him to one of England's tallest - Skiddaw. As John was staying at Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa we were perfectly set to approach the best possible way which in our opinion is via Ullock Pike. It's steep in places and a tad loose underfoot but John made light work of it. When it came to the final steep scree path onto the plateau I explained the meaning of 'type 2' fun to John which he said he was well and truly immersed in at this stage. John was overjoyed to reach the summit and although there was a lot of cloud shrouding surrounding peaks it was very dramatic all the same. We descended down the north side of Skiddaw and back to the car to finish the walk in 5 hours dead.
Well done John, keep on walking! Thanks to the team at George Fisher UK for recommending John to us too. #LivefortheNow
