The Lakeland Festival of Light 2018

Well what is there to say...

I'm one very proud man this morning. Proud, that as a community we have managed to pull off our biggest and best Lakeland Festival of Light so far. The total raised is yet to come in, but we do know we raised over £1,500 in the raffle and the attendance exceed 700 people (and over 60 dogs too!)

LFOL is a real joy for me. It's an opportunity for me to work with some very talented photographers and use Lakeland Mountain Guides as a platform to pull it off. To make this better we get to raise lots of money for a worthy cause. This year I am sure we will have exceeded £10,000, bringing us to over £40,000 in 4 years - not bad for an event which gets zero funding or grants to happen - well not yet anyway, watch this space!

Thanks to the photographers Tom McNally Photography, Lakeland Photo Walks, Carmen Norman Photography & Harry Baker Photography, you've all been excellent yet again.

Thanks to everyone who donated a raffle prize and helped us raise so much money! It really is appreciated.

Thanks to Nicol Marina Derwent Water for staying open late to help keep people fuelled up! Mega thanks to the folks from Little Chamonix for baking their socks off and supplying so much cake! A total raised towards the final pot still to come from them too.

Thanks to the National Trust Lake District for allowing us to use Catbells. 60p from every £20 donation will be heading to offset our impact on the fells last night. This morning I also got up Catbells ahead of the crowds to do a litter sweep and was happy to find very little that could be directly linked to LFOL.

It's been a pleasure to work with PHASE Worldwide again and I know they will utilise these funds well.

Final thanks to my family for putting up with me when I'm in 'Event Mode' and for doing all you can to help the event be a success.

Pictures from the event can be bought here (with 50% of the sales going to the charity also) http://carmennorman.co.uk/g…/lakeland-festival-of-light-2018
