Winter Summit Experience - Scafell Pike

Epic!

Today was the sort of day you dream of. Bright blue skies, warming sun and crunchy snowcapped peaks. Returning LMG regular Mark was keen for a winter adventure in the central fells and so we ventured on up to the base of Great End where we hit the snowline. We skirted under the crags and made our way up Cust's Gully to the summit. From here we enjoyed perfect winter walking conditions across to a quiet Scafell Pike via Ill Crag. After soaking up the views we descended to the Corridor Route and enjoyed a warm (almost t-shirt weather!) descent back to Seathwaite.

Full winter conditions from 650m upwards. Crampons essential for safe travel and an ice axe recommended for slopes such as the one from Broad Crag Col to Scafell Pike. A poor forecast tomorrow will also demand navigation skills and a set of goggles!
