Despite a later than normal start to let the winds drop, our winter ascent up Scafell Pike today wasn't to be! I was out with the super keen and happy Aimee and Lina who were up for an adventure, and that's certainly what we got as we tagged the half way point and tabottomed most of the way back down. The winds were gusting too strong and the likelihood of someone being blown over was just too high to justify pushing on.
Here's a video clip from just below Hollow Stones which was my 'Key Place' to make a decision. Lexi doing her best to hide from it all....
Full winter conditions on the fells right now. Crampons a bonus on the compact paths, Goggles essential whilst the winds remain high.
