A fab first day for myself up in the Cairngorms National Park on day one of our two day winter skills course. The forecast for up here was hosting some wild weather, and it all came to fruition as the weather station on the summit of Cairn Gorm recorded wind speeds up to 113mph!
With some careful planning we ventured up on to the mountain and covered a whole range of skills, from crampon use to ice axe arrest. At one point we did find ourselves quite exposed to the wind which was bracing to say the least - but a real buzz for the group.
Tomorrow's forecast is a little kinder and so we're aiming on covering some navigation, more avalanche awareness all on our way to the summit of Cairn Gorm itself. #LivefortheNow
