TLDS Expedition

A great couple of days with some of our Trainees from our Trainee Leader Development Scheme as we ventured out on a wild camp to simulate the demands and strains of the expedition element of their upcoming final assessments.

We started the exped from the heart of Eskdale and spent Tuesday wandering around on Harter Fell. Our camp spot for the night was on Hard Knott from which we enjoyed a few hours of Night Navigation. On Wednesday we continued northwards and made our way up the remote south ridge of Esk Pike, picking out obscure contours as we went. From the summit of Esk Pike we enjoyed a very wild descent back in to Eskdale via some rarely used trails. We were again all in awe of the beauty of the back end of the Scafell Massif as we walked on by. We walked out of the valley just as the heavy rain and strong winds hit, making the cars just after last light.

Good luck to all of you on your upcoming assessments!
