When Nathalie mentioned when booking her day up Scafell Pike that she was off to do a Trail Marathon I thought I'd throw a suggestion in that she may enjoy a fell run instead of just a walk. Nathalie was more than keen and it was clear from within our first few minutes of meeting this morning that Nathalie wasn't just hoping to do this, but to do it well! Unfortunately the weather in the high fells was misty and showery so we didn't have too many views to enjoy on our journey, but this did mean we kept the foot on the gas. We reached the summit of Scafell Pike in just 1hr 49 minutes. We returned over the boulders of Broad Crag and Ill Crag which we took very carefully due to their slippery nature. A sub 3 hour circuit was possible so we descended swiftly. We even ended up sprinting the last 5 minutes and returned back to Seathwaite in a total time of 3 hours 1 minute - but a moving time of just 2hrs 27! Well done Nathalie! It's not often I'm supping a cuppa in the early afternoon after guiding on Scafell Pike!
If you're fit and do a bit of running and fancy an intro to fell running don't hesitate to get in touch.
