Well here's a bundle of pictures from our 2017 Lakes 3000's Challenge we hosted over the weekend. The event started Saturday evening and the team ascended Skiddaw under clear skies and enjoyed a sunset from the summit. After meeting the support vehicle at the bottom of Skiddaw the team then walked 8 miles down to Seathwaite Farm (in the rain) where they met the support vehicle once more for some warm food and a chance to change. At about 4am we set off for Scafell. Unfortunately progress wasn't quite as it needed to be due to weary legs so I took the hard decision to avoid doing Scafell and heading for Scafell Pike. It was so peaceful up there and the views were incredible. From the summit we made our way across to Wythburn via High Raise and the Wythburn Bogs. This is by far the hardest leg of the whole thing as it involves steep grassy slopes and a never ending valley on poor tracks. We met the support vehicle once more where Bacon sandwiches and leg Massages were enjoyed before 4 of the team continued for Helvellyn. The weather turned once more and by the time the team got back to Keswick they looked pretty washed out! A mega challenge oh which the best part of 45 miles was walked and near on 3000m ascent climbed. Well done and thanks to all for coming. Special thanks to Richie, John and Nathan for helping lead this.
We will be doing this challenge again next year, albeit in a slightly different format, so if you're keen keep your eyes peeled!!
